Lots of people called me to tell me this programme was being aired a few weeks ago.

It was very disappointing; I thought it was very one sided and didn´t even mention the IPW- Institute of Professional Willwriters.

Although it is true that will writing as a profession is unregulated, the IPW has recognised that this is an unsatisfactory situation and entry to the Institute is by examination, with ongoing professional development being a requirement.

The IPW also has recognition from the OFT that its members will have Professional Indemnity insurance, proper terms and conditions, etc.

The fact that the programme left the viewer with the impression that the only safe way of having a will drawn up is through a solicitor I find incredible, as there have been a number of cases of solicitors being prosecuted in connection with fraud over wills in the recent past.

In fact, the programme itself featured a disbarred solicitor who was jailed in connection with a probate related fraud.
