**Inheritance Tax is no longer the "Rich man´s tax". With the value of people´s property increasing all the time combined with all their other assets, the value of the Nil Rate Band, which is the amount of your estate that can pass without the payment of Inheritance Tax (currently £285000) could be achieved relatively quickly, you might even have an estate worth in excess of this without realising it.

There is no tax to pay on assets passed between spouses on first death, however when the second person dies, without properly structured wills the value of only one Nil Rate Band can pass free of tax. With Inheritance Tax Wills in place the savings in tax can be as much as £114000.
